Subtract second equation from first equation to eliminate x

2x+6y-2x+10y=17-9

16y=8

y=1/2, use either original equation to solve for x

2x+6y=17 becomes

2x+6(1/2)=17

2x+3=17

2x=14

x=7 so the solution is the point (7, 1/2)

We can multiply the first by -2 and add it to second equation to eliminate x.

-2(3x-4y)+6x+3y=-2(-10)-42

-6x+8y+6x+3y=20-42

11y=-22

y=-2 using 3x-4y=-10 becomes

3x-4(-2)=-10

3x+8=-10

3x=-18

x=-6 so the solution is the point (-6,-2)

So you should be able to see how to solve the other two.
