bc, you want to make 18 and the amount of each ingredients there can only make twelve you see how much out of the eighteen is left when you make twelve: 18-12=6. Half of six is twelve so you use half of each amount of ingredients to make your six flapjacks. So you would add the amount of ingredients to make 12 with the amount of ingredients to make six. You probably won't understand bc of how I explain it so here is the first one.

140 g margarine = 12 flapjacks

140 ÷ 2 or 1/2 = 70

70 g margarine 6 flapjacks

140 + 70 = 210

So you would use 210 g margarine to make 18 flapjacks.
