How are the chromosomes in
eukaryotic cells different from those in prokaryotic cells?

In prokaryotes, the circular chromosome is contained in the cytoplasm in the nucleoid. Prokaryotic cells also have just one, circular chromosome. These chromosomes are small.

Eukaryote chromosomes are composed of DNA coiled and condensed around the nuclear proteins called histones, all located in the nucleus. Eukaryotes have multiple linear chromosomes. These chromosomes are large.
