The final velocity of the red stone is 0.069 m/s

What is momentum?

Given that it has both a magnitude and a direction, momentum is a vector quantity. The momentum and velocity vectors are pointing in the same direction.

Initial momentum of the red stone = 19.5 kg * 1.26 Kg

= 24.57 Kgm/s

Initial momentum of the yellow stone = 0 m/s

Final momentum of the red stone = x

Final momentum of the yellow stone = 13.3 Kg * 1.43 m/s * Cos17.87

= 18.1 Kgm/s

We know that momentum before collision = Momentum after collision

( 24.57 * 0) = ( 18.1 * x)

x = 1.36 Kgm/s

Momentum = mv

v = 1.36 Kgm/s/19.5 Kg

= 0.069 m/s
