Final answer:

To construct a song, choose a key and song structure, develop melodies by humming along with chord progressions, and write lyrics inspired by personal experiences or stories. The chorus should be catchy, and the verses should support the main theme.

Step-by-step explanation:

Creating a song from scratch can be a challenging yet rewarding process. Since you are drawing inspiration from Rocco for your guitar class, let's focus on crafting lyrics that resonate with the emotions and themes often found in Rocco's music. To start building your melodies and chords, you might want to choose a key that you are comfortable playing in on the guitar, like G major or C major.

A common and effective song structure you can use is 'Verse-Chorus-Verse-Chorus-Bridge-Chorus'. To construct your melody, hum along with your chord progression to find a tune that feels natural and memorable. As for the lyrics, think about a story or message you want to convey, drawing from personal experiences or your imagination to add authenticity and depth. Remember, repetition can be a powerful tool in songwriting, creating hooks that listeners will remember. Ensure your song's verses support the theme, and the chorus acts as a catchy and emotional centerpiece.
