Answer: y = – x – 6

y = x – 4

Substitute into y = -x-6 into the second equation

y =x-4

-x-6 = x-4

Add x to each side

-x-6+x =x-4+x

-6 =2x-4

Add 4 to each side

-6+4 =2x-4+4

-2 = 2x

Divide by 2

-2/2 =2x/2

-1 = x

Now find y

y =-x-6

y = -(-1) -6

y =1-6

y = -5
