13/17 because you add all the numbers together. So 5+8+4=17 that’s the total of all the marbles put into the bag. Now if you were to pick a marble you have 17 marbles to choose from. You want to see what is the chance of not getting purple so you would subtract 4 from 17. Why because you want to see how many other colors you may get before purple and that’s how you get 13.
