Final answer:

Tom is utilizing the inspirational appeal influence tactic on Larry in his speech, whereas Don used ingratiaton on Mary. (option A)

Step-by-step explanation:

In Tom's speech, he is utilizing the inspirational appeal influence tactic on Larry, whereas Don used ingratiation on Mary.

An inspirational appeal is a type of influence tactic where someone seeks to motivate and inspire others by appealing to their values, beliefs, and aspirations. In this case, Tom admires Larry and wants to emulate him, so he uses an inspirational appeal to inspire Larry to continue his outstanding service to the seniors at SCA.

Ingratiation is a type of influence tactic where someone seeks to gain favor or build rapport with another person through flattery, charm, or praise. Don, feeling left out of the employee-of-the-month award, tries to enlist other employees to help influence Mary for next month's award. He uses ingratiating tactics to build a positive relationship with Mary in order to improve his chances of receiving the award.
