NEED HELP ASAP HAVE 4 MINUTESSS

There are two numbers. Twice the small number increased by the larger number is six less than triple the smaller number. The large number is equivalent to twice the smaller number. Find the larger number.

Answer:

larger number is -4

Explanation:

Lets say the two numbers are x and y. x is the bigger number and y is the smaller one.

2y+x = y - 6 [equation 1]

x = 2y [equation 2]

these are the 2 equations we get from the text then we can simplify eq 1

y+x=-6

rearrange eq 2

-2y+x=0

subtract equations

3y = -6

y = -2

substitute -2 into earlier equations

x = 2*-2 = -4
