Use the graph of the exponential growth function f(x) = a(2ˣ) to determine which statement is true.

A. f(0) = 2 when a = 1.
B. f(0) = 3 when a = 3.
C. f(1) = 9 when a = 9.

The true statement is B:

f(0) = 3 when a = 3.

Which statement is true?

The graph of the parent exponential is in the image at the end. The general function is:

f(x) = a*(2)ˣ

a is the initial value of the exponential, this means that always:

f(0) = a

then:

f(1) = a*2 = 2a = 2*(f(0))

f(2) = 2*(2a) = 2*(f(1))

and so on.

Knowing that, we can see that the only correct option can be B, where the initial value and a are equal:

f(0) = 3 when a = 3.

The last option says that the period is 2, but this clearly is not a periodic function, so that option is just to mislead you.
