Why must the ribosomal subunits, made in the nucleolus, assemble in the cytoplasm

and not inside the nucleus?
(a) Because translation occurs in the cytoplasm
(b) Actually, the ribosome IS fully assembled inside the nucleus
(c) So that the subunits can fit through the nuclear pores, given that if the
ribosome is assembled inside the nucleus, the fully assembled ribosome would
not fit through a nuclear pore
(d) None of the above

The answer is C. The ribosomes are far too large to fit within the nucleus of a cell
