In the following table, proportionately, the parts of the base that need to be added to the parts of the red pigments are as follows:

Parts of red pigment 1 4 7 12 20

Parts of base 8 32 56 96 160

Proportion refers to the equation of two ratios.

The ratio of red pigments to the base = 1:8

The equation showing the relationship between the red pigment and the base of the mixture can be formed as follows:

Let the parts of the red pigments = x

Let the parts of the base = y

y = 8x

Using the above equation, we can derive the parts of the base, given the parts of the red pigment as follows:

Parts of red pigment 1 4 7 12 20

Parts of base 8 32 56 96 160

(1 x 8) (4 x 8) (7 x 8) (12 x 8) (20 x 8)

Thus, this implies that for each part of the red pigment, 8 parts of the base are required for the mixture.
