The equation of the table given above represents a non-linear function.

What is a linear function?

To identify a table that represents the equation that is a linear function, find the slope (m) which must be a constant for any two pairs of values gotten from the table.

Slope (m) = change in x / change in y = -4 - (-1) / -2 -(-1) = -3/-1 = 3

For another two pairs of values, we have:

Slope (m) = 3 - 8 / 0 - 1 = -5/-1 = 5

There's no real constant, therefore the equation is a non-linear function.
