Answer:

Part a:

Company A: y=3x

Company B: y=x+6

Part b:

For the cost to be the same we need to buy 3 shirts which is 9 dollars in total.

Part c:

Company B

Explanation:

I will help with the left one because if I help with too many in one answer it will get flagged

Part a:

To find the equation for company A:

The slope intercept for is y=mx+b

m=slope

b=y intercept

we use the slope formula
(y_(2) -y_(1) )/(x_(2)- x_(1) )

I will use the points (1,3) and (3,9)

(9-3)/(3-1) \\(6)/(2)\\ 3

There is no y intercept because the line starts at the origin so we fill in this information into the equation

y=3x

To find company B

We use same formula and I will use points (0,6) and (3,9)

(9-6)/(3-0) \\(3)/(3)

The slope is 1

The y intercept is 6 because that is where the line starts

So we fill in the equation

y=x+6

Part B:

we look at where the lines intersect and it does at (3,9)

Which in translation means that for the cost to be the same we need to buy 3 shirts which is 9 dollars.

Part C:

We look at what line is lower at the 5 on the x axis and Company B is at about 11 dollars

Hope this helps
