The equation graphed are as follows

y = x - 4 for x > 2

y = -5, for x < -2

How to write the equation

The equation graphed is written in the slope intercept form as below

y = mx + c

where

m = slope

x = intercept

The slope, m is calculated using the points on the graph (4, 0) and (5, 1)

m = (y₀ - y₁) / (x₀ - x₁)

m = (0 - 1) / (4 - 5)

m = (-1) / (-1)

m = 1

Using point (4, 0) and the point - slope formula we solve for c

y - 0 = m (x - 4), m = 1

y = x - 4

The interval is x > 2

The second line is a horizontal line y = -5, the interval is x < -2
