3x - 1 = 0

Explanation:

If x = 1/3

multiply both sides by 3

3 * x = 1/3 * 3

3x = 1

Subtract 1 from both sides ;

3x - 1 = 1 - 1

3x - 1 = 0 ( the factor which gives the solution)

3x - 1 = 0

3x = 1

Doavide both sides by 3

3x / 3 = 1/3

x = 1/ 3
