The average speed of the train for its entire journey is 1 kilometer per minute.

How to determine the average speed of the train

A graph of the distance of the train (s), in kilometers, as a function of time (t), in minutes. Graphically speaking, average speed is represented by the slope of the line secant to given curve. Thus, average speed formula is based on secant line formula:

v = (\Delta s)/(\Delta t)

Where v is the average speed, in kilometers per minute.

Now we proceed to determine the average speed of the train in its entire journey:

v = (10\,km - 0\,km)/(10\,min - 0\,min)

v = 1\,(km)/(min)

The train has the following average speed: 1 kilometer per minute.
