The object with more kinetic energy while it s being lifted is object with mass of 2 kg and speed of 4 m/s.

How to calculate the kinetic energy of the objects?

The kinetic energy of each object is calculated by applying the following formula.

K.E = ¹/₂ x mv²

where;

  • m is the mass of the objects
  • v is the speed of the objects

For object with a mass of 2 kg and speed of 4 m/s:

K.E = ¹/₂ x 2 kg x ( 4 m/s)²

K.E = 16 J

For object with a mass of 4 kg and speed of 2 m/s:

K.E = ¹/₂ x 4 kg x ( 2 m/s)²

K.E = 8 J

Thus, the object with more kinetic energy while it s being lifted is object with mass of 2 kg and speed of 4 m/s.

The complete question is below:

Two objects were lifted by a machine. One object had a mass of 2 kilograms, and was lifted at a speed of 4 m/s. The other had a mass of 4 kilograms and was lifted at a rate of 2 m/s. Which object had more kinetic energy while it was being lifted?
