If I have a mean of 40 and a standard deviation of 35, would the normal distribution be an adequate model?

Explanation:

In binomial distribution, the mean is expressed as;

μ = np

Now, for us to know whether to use normal distribution model, the condition is that;

np ≥ 5

Now, np < 5 for any reason, it means the normal distribution is not suitable.

Now, we are told that the mean is 40. This is more than the minimum of 5 and so the normal distribution is an adequate model for this distribution.
