well, taking a peek at the picture above, we can see that as the sales of ice-cream goes up drownings go up as well, I mean 70 ice-creams correspond with 7 drownings, what the hell does that mean?
well, it means that hmm people eat ice-cream while swimming and they can't do both at once so they drown, or the ice-cream is using up too much oxygen from swimmers so once they eat the ice-cream and go swimming they don't have too much oxygen to go about thus they drown.
well, those explanations are Nuts!
OR
the weather is hot so there are more people at the beach, so the sales of ice-cream goes up due to the hot weather, and the amount of drownings increase as well due to the volume of people, however is just a small fraction all along and is irrelevant to the sale of ice-cream, could be more folks with heart trouble are swimming, or more folks with some type of medication that affects their breathing while swimming are there now, but those are confounding factors, many other things go up besides ice-cream sales, boat rentals, swim-wear, sandals and so on, and those components are all related to the weather, not specifically to each other.
Does the relationship make sense? nope.
