(a) The maximum height reached by the ball is calculated by applying the following formula as shown below.

H = (U² sin²θ ) / 2g

where;

  • U is the initial velocity
  • g is acceleration due to gravity
  • θ is the angle of projection

H = (15² x (sin 30)² ) / ( 2 x 9.8)

H = 2.87 m

(b) The horizontal distance traveled by the ball is calculated as follows;

R = (U² sin(2θ) ) / g
