Select one of the perspectives you studied throughout the Module based on the notes you took. Imagine yourself in the position of a solider in the Civil War.. Write a series of 3 - 5 personal letters (word count of 500 - 750 words) to a family member or friend in your personal circle. Make sure your letters evoke the current situation of the period, your personal experiences from the figure's perspective, and your figure's opinion supported with evidence from the Module readings. Be careful to consider the timespan of your letters - when do they take place within the timeline of this Module? Before the war? During the war? Both? Deciding this before writing will make sure you demonstrate your understanding of the historical period we've just studied.

We can see here that writing a series of personal letters to a family member or friend in your personal circle can be a heartfelt and meaningful way to stay connected.

See a guide I present to help you write such letters:

1. Choose the family member or friend you'd like to write to. Consider their interests, experiences, and your relationship with them.

2. Decide on the tone and purpose of each letter. Are you sharing updates, offering support, reminiscing about memories, or discussing common interests?

3. Start with a warm greeting or salutation.

4. Ask about their well-being, their life events, or any topics you know they're interested in.

5. Conclude the letter with well wishes or sentiments that reflect your relationship, like "Looking forward to hearing from you soon" or "Sending love and hugs."

Remember to maintain a personal and conversational tone.
