Chapter 24: Conclusion

The Scarlet Letter

Throughout the tale, Hester serves as a symbol to other women. Write an essay in which you examine her role as a representative of the limitations and demands placed on the female of Puritan times. How does Hester both uphold and break down the expectations placed upon her gender? Support your arguments with evidence from the text.

Considering Hester was a female who had a child young and committed adultery she was judged purely on the fact of her actions and others opinions, she fought through that and took responsibility of her own actions and kept going with doing what she had to do.
