How to reflect a point over the x-axis?

When a point is reflected over the x-axis, the y-coordinate changes sign while the x-coordinate remains the same, in other words, this changes the sign of the y-coordinate while leaving the x-coordinate unchanged.

In this case, given point H(1, 4), the reflection H' over the x-axis will give coordinates of (1, -4) because you change the sign of the y-coordinate.

Therefore, the coordinates of the reflected point H' will be (1, -4)as graphed below.
