Why did China seem to break up into warring kingdoms so often?

Answer: China hasn’t always been just one country. It used to be a lot of smaller kingdoms who wanted to gain control of a big country. And so they fought over it. China is also REALLY big. When that happens, it’s really hard for a king to keep control, so if one lord wants to start his own army and rebel, it can be hard to stop.
