The amount he gave to his wife is 1500

Let the amount the man has = m

Amount given to wife = 0.25m

Amount left = m - 0.25m = 0.75m

Fraction given to charity = 3/5(0.75m) = 0.45m

Amount left = 4200

This means:

  • m - 0.45m - 0.25m = 4200

We can calculate "m" :

0.70m = 4200

m = 4200/0.7

m = 600

Amount given to wife :

  • 0.25m = 0.25 × 6000 = 1500

Therefore, The amount he gave to his wife is 1500

Complete Question:

A man gave 25% of his money to his wife. He donated 3/5 of the remaining money to charity and had $4,200 left. How much money did he give his wife?
