"Slope" just means the change in y divided by the change in x. In the first graph, the slope is the change in depth divided by the change in hours.

Using the equation, slope = (y - y1)/(x - x1), you can plug in 2 points and solve. I see that the line goes through the points (4,1) and (8,2), so I'll use these. Make sure that (x,y) are from the same point and (x1,y1) are from the same point.

slope = (2 - 1)/(8 - 4)

slope = 1/4

You can do the same process for the second graph but you'll use different points. I see the points (2,80) and (4,40), so I'll use those.

slope = (40 - 80)/(4 - 2)

slope = -40/2

slope = -20
