The area of the trapezium given the area of the triangle is 32.5 cm²

What is the area of the trapezium?

Area of the triangle = 24 cm²

Height = 6 cm

Base = ?

Area of a triangle = ½ × base × height

24 = ½ × b × 6

24 = 3b

Divide both sides by 3

b = 24/3

b = 8 cm

The triangle and the trapezium share one base

Area of the trapezium = ½ × h(a + b)

= ½ × 2(5 + 8)

= ½ × 2(13)

= ½ × 65

= 32.5 cm²

Therefore, 32.5 square cm is the area of the trapezium.
