How to determine the measure of an arc length

In this question we must determine the measure of an arc length, this can be done by means of the following formula:


s = \theta \cdot r

Where:

  • θ - Measure of the central angle, in radians.
  • r - Radius
  • s - Arc length

Please notice that 2π radians equals 360º and 360º makes a complete revolution.

If we know that r = 3 and
\theta = 2\pi - (\pi)/(3), then the measure of the arc length of the circular sector is:


s = \left(2\pi - (\pi)/(3) \right)\cdot 3

s = 5π

According to arc length formula, the arc length measures 5π units.
