There is a scheme of a reversible reaction, where a molecule of CHCHCOH, with an oxygen atom attached to the third (from left to right) carbon atom by a double bond, reacts with HOCH3 in the presence of heat and H plus.

Draw the condensed structural or line-angle formula for the ester formed in each of the following reactions.

There is a scheme of a reversible reaction, where a molecule of CHCHCOH, with an oxygen-example-1

The reaction of carboxylic acid and alcohol is called esterification and its products are water and ester.
In this case it’s a reaction of propanoic acid and methanol, so the ester is methyl propanoate.
