L) The submarine is 115.3 m away from surface of water it is 500 m away from the starting point.

M) The height of the flagpole is 23.8 m .

The missing sides are:

a) 15. 56 cm b) 12√2 mm c) 16√3/3 m.

How the missing sides were calculated.

L) The submarine dived at angle 13⁰

tan13 = x/500

x = 500tan13

= 500 * 0.2309

= 115.3 m

The submarine is 115.3 m away from surface of water it is 500 m away from the starting point.

M) The height = x

tan50 = x/20

x = 20tan50

x = 23.8 m

The height of the flagpole is 23.8 m .

2a) cos50 = adjacent/hypotenuse

cos50 = 10/x

x = 10/cos50

= 10/0.6428

=15. 56 cm

b) sin45 = 12/x

x = 12/sin45

x = 12/(1/√2) = 12 *√2/1

x = 12√2 mm

c) sin60 = 8/x

x = 8/sin60

x = 8/(√3/2) = 8 * 2/√3

= 16/√3

= 16√3/3 m.
