Answer: Demand for good increased due to a wider swath of individuals suddenly having access to products provided by the railroad.

Explanation: Lumber, coal, flour, cattle, and so much more could be ordered by someone through a catalog. Then it was shipped months later. Or a lumber company could ship their products by railroad instead of having to haul it. This made supplying products cheaper and more people could acquire it.
