This answer doesn't need much solving since the equation is the same as the square root and the only number that equals the same thing when square root is 1 so we will have to set x-4 equal to 1

add 4 to both sides


x=5

P.S. sometimes they will allow the square root of zero so x would be equal to 4 but that's in rare cases so if it ask for multiple solutions put 4 if not just disregard this

The answers would be x=5 and x=4

Step-by-step explanation:
Square both sides and take away the square root.
x-4=x^2-8x+16
Move all the terms to the left side and set each factor equal to 0
x=x^2-8x+20
0=x^2-9x+20
Solve using the quadratic formula and separate the solutions
x= (-(-9)-1)/2*1 =4
x= (-(-9)+1)/2*1 =5
