Area of square ABCD

= (Length)²


= {4}^(2) \\ \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: = 16({ ft}^(2) )

Area of ∆EDF


\: \: \: \: \: = (1)/(2) (ed)(df) \\ \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: \: = (1)/(2) (2 + 4)(7 - 4) \\ = (1)/(2) (6)(3) \\ = 9( {ft}^(2) )

Area of the figure

= Area of square ABCD + Area of ∆EDF

= (16+9) ft²

= 25ft²
