Answer:

2x - y = 6

Explanation:

the equation of a line in slope- intercept form is

y = mx + c ( m is the slope and c the y- intercept )

given

2x - y = 5 ( subtract 2x from both sides )

- y = - 2x + 5 ( multiply through by - 1 )

y = 2x - 5 ← in slope- intercept form

with slope m = 2

Parallel lines have equal slopes , then

y = 2x + c ← is the partial equation

to find c, substitute (6, 6 ) for x and y into the partial equation

6 = 2(6) + c = 12 + c ( subtract 12 from both sides )

- 6 = c

y = 2x - 6 ← equation in slope- intercept form

( subtract 2x from both sides )

- 2x + y = - 6 ( multiply through by - 1 )

2x - y = 6 ← equation in standard form
