The value of y obtained using the properties of the internal angle of a kite is; y ≈ 4.55

The steps used to find the value of y is presented as follows;

m∠LRT = m∠LTR (Base angles of isosceles triangle ΔLTR)

m∠TLR + m∠LRT + m∠LTR = 180° (Angle sum property of a triangle)

(4·y)° + (9·y + 40)° + (9·y + 40)° = 180°

(22·y + 80)° = 180°

y = (180 - 80)/22

y ≈ 4.55

The complete question obtained from a similar question found through search can be presented as follows;

TCLR is a kite as shown where m∠CTR = (7·x - 12)°, m∠TCR = (8·x + 32)°, m∠LRT = (9·y + 40)°, and m∠TLR = (4·y)°

Please find attached the diagram showing a possible arrangement of the vertices of the kite TCLR, created with MS Word
