To simply the expression (5x-8)(2x+4), we can use the distributive property. First we multiply 5x by both terms in the second parenthesis:
(5x) * (2x) = 10x^2
(5x) * (4) = 20x
Next we multiply -8 by both terms in the second parenthesis

(-8) * (2x) = -16x
(-8) * (4) = -32
Now we can combine the like terms:

10x ^2 + 20x -16x -32

Simply further
10x^2 + 4x -32
So the simpler experssion is 10x ^2 + 4x -32
