The equation of line parallel to the y-axis is x = -5/22

How to determine the equation of the parallel line

From the question, we have the following parameters that can be used in our computation:

x − 7y + 5 = 0

3x + y = 0

Make y the subject of the formula in (2)

So, we have

3x + y = 0

y = -3x

Substitute y = -3x into the equation x − 7y + 5 = 0

So, we have

x - 7 * -3x + 5 = 0

x + 21x + 5 = 0

Evaluate the like terms

22x + 5 = 0

22x = -5

Divide both sides by 22

x = -5/22

Hence, the equation of the parallel line is x = -5/22
