Answer:

x = 3 , y = 4

Explanation:

given the system of equations

4x + 3y = 24 → (1)

x = 2y - 5 → (2)

substitute x = 2y - 5 into (1)

4(2y - 5) + 3y = 24 ← distribute parenthesis and simplify left side

8y - 20 + 3y = 24

11y - 20 = 24 ( add 20 to both sides )

11y = 44 ( divide both sides by 11 )

y = 4

substitute y = 4 into either of the 2 equations and solve for x

substituting into (2)

x = 2(4) - 5 = 8 - 5 = 3

the solution is x = 3 , y = 4
