y = 9x - 2 → (1)

y = 7x → (2)

substitute y = 9x - 2 into (2)

9x - 2 = 7x ( subtract 7x from both sides )

2x - 2 = 0 ( add 2 to both sides )

2x = 2 ( divide both sides by 2 )

x = 1

substitute x = 1 into either of the 2 equations and solve for y

substituting into (2)

y = 7x = 7 × 1 = 7

sollution is x = 1 , y = 7
