• The shortest side of a triangle is 8 centimeters long. The longest side is 8 cm longer than the

shortest side. The third side is 12 cm long. The perimeter is 38 cm. Find the length of the
shortest side.

9cm

Explanation:

s + s + 8 + 12 = 38

(s + s) + (8 + 12) = 38

2s + 20 = 38.

so, we have to subtract 20 from both sides, so it will be 2s = 18.

2s/2 = 18/2. so that means, s = 9.
