How to determine the value of x

From the question, we have the following parameters that can be used in our computation:

The figure (see attachment)

From the figure, we have that

The line at the middle is a bisector of the triangle

This means that

The bigger lines are twice the length of the small lines

Using the above as a guide, we have the following:

20 = 2 *(3x - 8)

Divide through by 2

3x - 8 = 10

This gives

3x = 18

Divide through by 3

x = 6

Hence, the value of x is 6
