How do you solve 3 divided by x -1 = x + 1

multiply (x-1) to both sides and then subtract three from both sides

3 = (x-1)(x+1)

3 = (x^2 -1)

0 = x^2 - 4

(x-2)(x+2) = 0

x = 2

x = -2
