Answer: x=12

Explanation:

first you add 4 to both side to make it 2x=24 then you divide both side by 2 to get 12 so x=12.

Answer:

Explanation:

Firstly you want to get x alone on one side of the equation. So to do that you move 4 to the other side of the equation. When a number crosses the equal sign, the sign (+/-) switches. Hence 2x - 4 = 20 becomes 2x = 20 +4. Which gives you 2x = 24. Now you can solve for x.

2x is really 2 multiplied by x. The opposite of multiplication is division so to get rid of the 2 and get x alone on one side, you divide 24 by 2.

So the equation becomes x = 24/2 (24 divided by 2)

This gives you x = 12.

I hope this helped.
