The required area is 24(x + 5)ft².

Given that,

Length of the pool is: 12ft.

Breadth of the pool is: (4x + 2) ft.

As the cement pathway is (3+3) ft longer than pool length and (3+3) ft. wider than pool breadth.

So, length of the path way is: (12+ 6)ft = 18ft.

Breadth of the pathway is: (4x+2+6)ft = (4x + 8)ft.

Currently, the cement pathway's area is determined by:

Area of (pool+pathway)- Area of pool

This gives:

Area of pathway = 18 × (4x +8)-12×(4x+2) 72x+14448x24 = 24x + 120 = 24(x + 5)ft²

Thus the required area is: 24(x + 5)ft².
