y = mx + b

m = slope

b = y-intercept

Slope is equal to rise over run...Let's take points (1,0) and (2,1) for example, see how if you add 1 to (1,0) it turns to (2,1)? This means the slope is 1.

The y-intercept is where x is equal to 0. Look at point (0,-1). X is zero here, and y is -1. This means that the y-intercept is -1.

The final equation would then be:

y = x - 1

(You typically don't write the 1 in front of the x if 1 is the slope)
