I found one website which claims the following: The growth phase of the hair is called the anagen phase. It lasts about 3 years in men and 5 years in women. Another website makes a very similar claim. The problem is I can't find any journal article which supports the idea. Is it true that the anagen phase lasts longer in women than in men? And is there published research to prove it?

Final answer:

The anagen phase is the longest phase of the hair growth cycle, but its duration can vary. Claims about the anagen phase lasting longer in women than in men may not be supported by published research.

Step-by-step explanation:

The anagen phase is the growth phase of hair. It is the longest phase of the hair growth cycle, lasting for several years. However, the specific duration of the anagen phase can vary between individuals. While some websites claim that the anagen phase lasts 3 years in men and 5 years in women, it is important to note that these numbers may not be supported by published research.
