Mrs. Burt uses 3 blue markers, 5 black markers, and 2 green markers on her classroom whiteboard. She chooses one marker randomly at the beginning of a class period, 6 times a day for 30 days. Which table BEST represents the number of times she chooses each color in 180 trials? '

The table which best represents the experimental probability is (C)

Using the Parameters given:

  • Number of blue markers = 3
  • Number of black markers = 5
  • Number of green markers = 2

Calculating the theoretical probability of each marker type :

  • P(black) = 5/10 = 1/2
  • P(blue) = 3/10
  • P(green) = 2/10 = 1/5

In 180 trials :

  • Number of blacks = 1/2 × 180 = 90
  • Number of blue = 3/10 × 180 = 54
  • Number of green = 1/5 × 180 = 36

From the theoretical probability values;

Hence, blacks should have the highest number , followed by blue then green.

Hence, the most appropriate table is C.
