To find the distance, from the given graph we need to find out the area of this velocity time graph as the area under v-t graph gives distance/displacement.

If we add the areas according to the sign we will get the net displacement, but without considering the signs and just adding them will give us distance .

To find the area we will break the area under the graph into three parts , two triangles and one rectangle. Adding areas of each will give us distance.

So the net area would be,

→ A = ( ½ * 2 * 8 + ½ * 2 * 8 + 8 * 3 )m

→ A = ( 16 + 24 )m

A = 40m .

Hence the distance travelled by the object from t = 0s to t = 7s is 40m.
