2. angle 2 = angle 4 and angle 3 is equal to angle 5 ( alternate interior angles)

3. angle DCB + 5 = 180° ( linear pair postulate)

4. angle 4 + angle 1 + angle 5 = 180°( linear pair postulate)

5. angle 1 + angle 2 + angle 3 = 180° ( substitution property)

The sum of angles on a straight line is 180 and the sum of angles in a triangle is also 180°.

To prove that angle 1 + angle 2 + angle 3 = 180°
